USABILITY &
PREFERENCE TESTING

6  usability testers... 10 preference testers... a treasure of insight

PROBLEMS
and
SOLUTIONS

PROBLEMS

  • Users had difficulty understanding the functionality of the features based on the icons alone

  • How to create an account was unclear

  • Onboarding customization options were cluttered, and it was unclear what the task goals were

  • Some of the medical terminology was unfamiliar to the users

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

  • Rename categories & subcategories to be more descriptive

  • Add and option to create an account on the Create Account screen

  • Add brief instructional captions to aid in task completion

  • Update the terminology to be more descriptive and/or offer a medical terms glossary

RE-IMAGINED

After several iterative cycles and some new insights...  we're a few steps closer.

The
Takeaway

KEY LEARNING POINTS

  • Building a platform such as Vessel, that is both technical and addresses very personal needs and goals of a broad spectrum of users, is greatly facilitated by the collaborative efforts of users, team members, and industry professionals

.

  • Maintaining a clear and unified vision for the app, which encompasses a broad range of functionality and features, is best achieved through a continuous loop of feedback and reiteration from end-to-end.

  • An empathetic design approach is particularly important in building a platform that balanced emotional awareness, privacy and technical accuracy.
